Clinician FAQs
What is Tennessee Rural Partnership?
Tennessee Rural Partnership (TRP) is a private non-profit organization established in 2006 to address the increasing challenges of providing healthcare in rural and underserved areas across the state by assisting in the recruitment, placement and retention of physicians and other health professionals. TRP was formed by the Rural Health Association of Tennessee and four of the state's medical schools: The University of Tennessee, Meharry Medical College, East Tennessee State University, and Vanderbilt University as well as other associations and stakeholders representing rural healthcare. In 2012 TRP became an operating subsidiary of Tennessee Hospital Association, enabling us to expand our goal to maximize access to primary care in rural and underserved areas of Tennessee. TRP has successfully placed 50 primary care providers in Tennessee communities to date.
Why should a clinician work with Tennessee Rural Partnership?
Tennessee Rural Partnership helps connect physicians and other clinicians with communities in rural and underserved areas. There is no cost for this service. We assess the demand for selected health professionals, identify vacancies and new opportunities, develop a statewide practice opportunity profile, and provide placement assistance to providers, communities, and organizations. TRP is currently assisting placement of over 150 health professionals in 93 Tennessee communities. Clinicians interested in beginning the process should complete the Clinician Entry Form.
Does Tennessee Rural Partnership give my information to communities?
Tennessee Rural Partnership only releases information with your explicit approval. Community and job profiles are provided to candidates for review, and in turn, TRP conducts the “matching” process. Only when you request to be referred to a community will your information be released to that hiring entity.
How can Tennessee Rural Partnership assist Communities?
Tennessee Rural Partnership enters job openings in its database to match clinicians with communities. There is no participation fee. Job openings may be posted through our Community Entry Form.
A representative from Tennessee Rural Partnership will follow up with you to complete the process.
Geographical preference is only one of the many factors health care providers use to decide where to live and work. We gather personal and professional information to build successful, long-term working relationships. Our detailed matching process optimizes mutually beneficial placements for clinicians and communities. TRP assists candidates with traveling expenses for the interview process, and can also help with recruitment and retention procedures on an individual facility basis.
